Giclée

Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is an invented name (i.e. a neologism) for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word "giclée" is derived from the French language word "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "gicler" meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray".

The term "giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. Giclee prints are created typically using professional 8-Color to 12-Color ink-jet printers. Among the manufacturers of these printers are vanguards such as Epson, MacDermid Colorspan, & Hewlett-Packard. These modern technology printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints for both the fine art and photographic markets. The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.

Those artists who recognize the values of giclée prints, make limited editions to sale their artworks to a larger public. The publisher and maker of the giclée print provides a document detailing the title, size, medium, number and date of printing of the LE. Together with the signing and the giclée print a certificate is released at the request of the artist and signed by the printmaker as well. A relief stamp can be used to mark such certificates to prevent tampering. Holographic serialized holograms are another value added option.

Passpartou/Mat board

In the picture framing industry, a mat is a thin, flat piece of paper-based material included within a picture frame, which serves as additional decoration and to perform several other, more practical functions, such as separating the art from the glass. Putting mats in a frame is called matting, a term which can also usually be used interchangeably with mat.

The picture-framing mat is most commonly known by laymen for its use as additional decoration to enhance the look of a framed piece, sometimes in conjunction with a fillet or more rarely, liners made of wooden moulding with a cloth surface. Typically the mat or mats, if matched carefully and properly proportioned, serve to help draw the eye in towards the framed piece, or towards a particular key element of the piece.

A végleges arculat mellett bemutatják a hozzá vezető utat is képekben, beszámolókban, tanulságos történetekben, melyekből a tervező és az ügyfél szemszögét is megismerhetjük.

Gyűjtemény igazi "Hogyan" könyv: a mai magyar példákon keresztül lehetünk részesei az alkotó folyamatnak, mely egyaránt tanulságos tervezőnek és ügyfélnek.
